Diet and Exercise are the best way to keep your belly fat under control.

To lose belly fat, eating right and exercising regularly needs to become a habit, not just something you do when you can be bothered or when you “have the time.” If your current schedule makes it difficult to find the time for exercise, change it. In fact there are benefits if you start exercising earlier, you lose fat faster, because you will be able to do 30-45 mins of exercise before breakfast and what that does is that the workout you did before breakfast is giving your metabolism a boost and you are therefore continually burning fat through the day. However if you want to lose more weight then do another workout a few hours after you have eaten breakfast. If you need to eat something before your early morning exercise then have a power bar or protein drink.

Get your self an alarm clock, it is an excellent wake up call to have, as you can set the alarm to get you out of bed and started. Just make sure you do a good warm up as you do not want to hurt yourself in any way before you exercise.

Diet is next and with that you need to look at what you cook in your kitchen. Stay away from junk food, stick to grains, nuts, over processed food whatsoever. Eat lots of fruits and vegetable, drink plenty of water. Water can help you lose belly fat because it keeps you full so you don’t want to eat in between meals. When cooking use canola oil as that is quite a healthy oil to use.

The way to burn belly fat fast is to eat in moderation and to exercise. just exercise more than what you eat because when you exercise the energy has to come from somewhere and you guessed it the body fuel will be taken from your body fat therefore fat burning.

The Secret and Weight Loss

The Secret and Weight Loss

Last year a movie called The Secret came out and everyone was watching it. This gave a different understanding of the Law of Attraction which was also something that everyone was talking about.

People struggle on a daily basis to understand this law of attraction and they are not sure what to do with it. Others have figured it out and understand exactly what to do to get what they want. Many people are applying the principles in this movie to do many things, so it seemed appropriate to apply it to weight loss.

The Basics of The Law Of Attraction
When you think about it, the basics of the law of attraction work perfectly for weight loss because it is based on the principle of getting what you want by visualizing it first and then keeping in your mind what it is you want. As an example, if you have decided to lose weight, it’s important to 1) make the decision and 2) visualize yourself at your goal weight.

Everyday it is important to visualize yourself at the goal weight and then to feel how you will feel when you get there. The important Catch-22 is that you have to see your self “as if it has already happened.” (Source: The Secret). Many people have a challenge with this concept because they question it, but others have used it and it works.

Once you have seen yourself in the form you want to be then you let go of the worry around the weight loss and let it happen. It will unfold for you as though it were a miracle, according to the movie.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction to Weight Loss
As we said above, it is a matter of seeing yourself in the size you want. You can do things to get you there once you have made this commitment to yourself. One thing you can do is go to a clothing store and start looking at the types and styles of clothes that you will wear when you have achieved your goal weight.

You might want to start looking through magazines for a new hair style that you would like. You may also look at clothing styles in magazines or on the Internet. When you find things you want, you can cut them out and put them on a poster board or keep them in a scrap book. These items become part of a vision board that brings you into your weight loss on a more personal level.

As you begin to visualize yourself this way you might find that certain foods do not taste the same anymore or that you just do not want them. You may find that you are making healthier choices all together. Keep visualizing your self at your goal weight.

When you get discouraged or feel like it’s not working (which is human nature to do) just visualize more, take out your scrapbook or take a look at your vision board and get your mind set back on process of owning the fact that you are already at your goal weight.

Another rule of thumb is not to tell anyone about what you are doing. Not because you are ashamed of it but because you want to hold the energy around it. Many people will think you’re crazy for trying this method and they may have negative things to say. By not sharing with them what you are doing, it keeps the energy around it positive.

Using the law of attraction can keep you motivated and actively involved in your weight loss.

The Weight is Off — Now What?

Finally you have reached your goal! You’ve taken off the pounds you wanted to lose and now you are feeling a little lost. You had all those goals and lots of activity to get there but since you have accomplished the goal you’ve lost the fun.

Well, not exactly. The fun is still there but you have to redirect your focus. Many people gain their weight back after they have lost small or large amounts of weight. Usually it is because they think that they are safe to go back to the way they used to eat and they may slack off in exercise. The problem with this thinking is that it is a sure way to get back to the same weight problem they had in the past.

Since this is a problem for many people you might want to know what you can do to keep the weight off. This is often called the maintenance phase of weight loss. What most people do not know is that the maintenance of weight loss is much like the weight loss itself. You still will need to maintain proper nutrition and exercise. This is often the challenge.

Ways to Keep Going
Once you have started a regular exercise program you can add more than one type of exercise to your program. This will stop you from getting bored. Many people start out with walking and then add swimming or biking so they have a change of pace. As your body becomes stronger you will be able to try different things to see what you like to do.

This is also a time to assess your goals. You had weight loss goals so you can decide on other goals at this time. Perhaps you have something you have always wanted to do and could not do it because of your extra pounds. Now is the time to try it. Maybe you wanted to try ballroom or other types of dancing. Find a partner and get started.

Instead of making a commitment to weight loss, make your commitment to health and fitness. This will allow you to step back and look at what you want your body to look like in the future. This can create goals that are obtainable on a regular basis.

Ways to Have Successful Weight Maintenance
By now you have created some better habits than when you put the weight on. You can now get started in developing these habits as a lifestyle. Here are a few tips:

Keep healthy snacks on hand. Instead of going back to eating chips and other processed foods that aren’t good for you, keep working with grains, fruits and vegetables. These are local calorie and have lots of nutrients to help you keep your body healthy. Stick to foods that are healthy and will create weight maintenance. If you are not sure what these are, you can try the Glycemic Index. Any food there that is <55 on the scale will maintain your weight loss.

Avoid those foods that trigger overeating. You know what we’re talking about because everyone has those foods that comfort and cajole us when we are having emotional challenges. Be careful of these foods because chances are they are the ones that put the weight on in the first place.

Create a network of people. If you don’t have a network of people that you can talk to and have fun with start getting out and meeting people. There are great classes at recreation centers that can help you meet people who have similar goals. You might even find people who love to do the same type of fitness that you do.

Does Hypnosis Work for Weight Loss?

You’ve heard the hype. Many products say that they can help you lose weight and there are many methods that people use. One of the most popular ways to lose weight was with hypnosis many years ago.

Today this is still a way that some people use to get rid of extra pounds but you might ask yourself, “Does this really work?” The answers are varied and it seems that it depends on the individual and what they want to accomplish.

According to the Mayo Clinic it really depends on the individual. There have been many studies done that show that there is some help for obesity from hypnosis but they have really been modest results. The challenge is that the studies have not been scientifically done so there is no real way to tell whether this can work.

However, the Mayo Clinic suggests that there is enough evidence to show that hypnosis can be helpful. The reason it can help is because hypnosis puts an individual into a state of relaxation that also provides heightened awareness. By doing this they are also able to be more focused on suggestions and behavior change.

If an individual looks at hypnosis as one method towards their weight loss it can be beneficial. It is not something that is a substitute for other methods. Experts say that hypnosis combined with better eating and a change in lifestyle can lead anyone towards their goal.

How Does Hypnosis Work
Many people think that hypnosis is an absolute cure to stop them from doing certain behaviors. They think that they will go to sleep, get some suggestions and then automatically (and miraculously) lose weight. This is not the case. The hypnotist will use relaxation techniques to get an individual into a very relaxed state.

The challenge is that the individual can fight the hypnosis and never get to the relaxed state where they need to go. Once there however, they can work on issues around their weight that might help them when they are out of their heightened state.

The hypnotherapist will also use relaxation tapes and may lend one to the individual to use when they are not in session. These tapes will be used for self-hypnosis and can add to the overall treatment.

Once an individual is in a very relaxed state the hypnotherapist will give them instructions to see themselves as thin or at their goal weight. They will use visualization techniques and suggestions during the course of the therapy to help the individual get into the frame of mind to keep moving on their weight loss plan.

But Does It Work For Everyone
Although hypnosis can work for many people it is not something that is a cure all. According to Dr. David Katz, a professor at Yale University, hypnosis can make a contribution to weight loss but it’s not the only thing someone should do (Source: ABC News).

Hypnosis cannot act as the magic bullet for weight loss and it isn’t a replacement for common sense. It doesn’t work for people who are resistant to this method because they are too hypersensitive to let themselves relax enough to be hypnotized.

Some people are afraid of hypnotism which is another reason why it would not work. It is important to note that this method is also a type of psychotherapy and as such it should be done by a health care provider who is credentialed in this method. There are a lot of people who are doing hypnosis who are not licenses or credentialed in the process.

What To Do When Your Eating for Weight Loss Gets Boring

You know what it’s like when you first start eating more nutritionally. At first it seems to be the best thing you could do for yourself because your entire body begins to feel better. You start releasing toxins, you start enjoying yourself more and you begin to lose the weight you have tried to lose for a long time.

And then it happens. You are bored stiff with eating the same old foods the same old way. It just doesn’t have the same excitement that it had in the beginning and eventually some people just go back to their old eating habits.

The good news is that here are ways to continue eating well even when you start to get bored. It is important to maintain your healthier eating habits because they are adding the vitamins and nutrients to your body that you need to continue to lose the weight.

You can decrease your boredom by combining foods that you’ve never combined in the past. A good way to do this is to look at some of the cooking shows. Emeril Live and other gourmet cooks have their own shows. Emeril has a show on the Food Channel and on the Green Channel and he cooks different things on each show. These can give inspiration when you are not sure what to do next.

How To Revive Your Motivation
Here are a few ways to change your eating habits and revive your motivation once again:

Experiment with different foods. Have you ever tried mango on whole wheat toast? This is very good and it can be one way to change your eating. Experiment with putting peaches or apples into your green salad. Use peanut butter on different types of breads and or crackers. You never know what you might find that you like.

Try something different for breakfast. Many people eat vegetables for lunch or dinner but some never try it for breakfast. Try brussel sprouts or asparagus for breakfast along with your eggs. Add mushrooms or onion to your eggs or to your English muffin. This can be a tasty treat and can get your day started with energy.

Try tofu. Although this may look disgusting Tofu is actually very good for you. It comes in many varieties like soft, hard, and baked. You can try it to see if you like it. You can use it instead of meat, add it to oriental dishes or stir fry it with vegetables.

Experiment with finger foods. There are a lot of foods that are nutritious that could be classified as finger foods. As an example, rice cakes with a little peanut butter or cheese can make a wonderful substitute for an entire sandwich. You can add a little meat to it and have a better taste than with bread. You can add fresh fruit at other times or cheese slices.

Experiment with veggies. Instead of always boiling your vegetables try them grilled, poached, steamed, broiled, roasted or toasted. Vegetables like squash, chickpeas (watch them when you roast them because they pop like popcorn), peppers or potatoes are great in all of these ways.
In addition to these think about the snacks that you have at home. You can buy dried fruits, nuts, cereal like granola or dry roasted soy nuts as examples of great snacks that you will love.

The point is to vary your eating and experiment with foods that you have never tried in the past. This will make sure that you stay motivated to stay healthy. Buy something new to try each time you go to the store.
